| Teacher Trainings |
 |
| |
The SATC has developed sexual violence prevention curricula for teachers (K-12th grade) to use in the classroom. The curricula include interactive, teacher-friendly lesson plans and materials tailored to address Hawaii Health Education standards. The SATC staff partners with teachers to provide them comprehensive training and support. |

| Classroom Presentations for School Age Children |
 |
| |
Multi-session classroom presentations are available for children K-12th grade. The goal of the presentations is to help young people lead healthy, violence-free lives. They cover a range of topics tailored to a student’s grade level, from basic lessons on personal boundaries and accessing help if victimized to lessons on sexual harassment, sexual exploitation via the internet and cultivating safe, respectful dating relationships. |

| Presentations for Community Organizations |
 |
| |
The SATC provides presentations to members of various community groups to increase their knowledge and sensitivity regarding sexual assault, to inform them about SATC’s services and to empower them to help prevent sexual violence. Examples of those receiving these services include parent groups, religious congregations, youth serving organizations and community service providers. The SATC staff tailors content and delivery for these one-session presentations to meet the needs and concerns of those in attendance. |

| |
| Trainings for Professionals |
 |
| |
The SATC develops and conducts seminars/ trainings for professionals who work with sexual assault victims. These professionals include crisis workers, law enforcement personnel and medical personnel. Trainings are also provided to professionals who serve those who are at increased risk for sexual victimization, such as children, college students and those with developmental disabilities. Examples of those receiving these services include school counselors, college resident advisors and social workers. |

Throughout the year, television and radio commercials and public service announcements are aired throughout Hawai‘i to raise awareness about sexual violence and to encourage victims to seek counseling services.
During Sexual Assault Awareness month in April, a variety of awareness building activities are held in conjunction with press releases to local media. Activities include such things as shopping mall exhibits, bookstore and library readings and poster campaigns.
In addition, every year SATC staff participates in various community fairs and events reaching many residents island-wide. Staff utilizes eye-catching displays and brochures to educate the community on sexual violence, victim services and prevention strategies. |

Respect Media Campaign
The [respect] public awareness media campaign is targeted at young males to emphasize the importance of respecting the sexual limits of others. The campaign highlights these key messages:
- Sexual assault is a crime that can have serious impacts on the victim.
- Consent for sexual activity must be freely given.
- Being pressured, tricked, or physically forced into sexual activity is not giving consent.
The [respect] campaign includes television and radio spots which air throughout Hawaii. It was developed by the Sex Abuse Treatment Center and the Hawaii Coalition Against Sexual Assault.
Respect is a Choice Program
The Sex Abuse Treatment Center and Honolulu Theatre for Youth partnered to produce two plays designed to powerfully resonate with teens concerning sexual violence prevention and supporting victims. Choice by Yokonaan Kearns (for teen boys) and Girl’s Choice by Carson Becker (for teen girls) are compelling 20 minute plays which are followed by a discussion with the audience facilitated by the actors. These lively discussions powerfully reinforce the key messages in each play.
Choice is performed exclusively for high school males and Girl’s Choice for high school females. Schools can schedule a classroom performance by calling Honolulu Theatre for Youth at 839-9885. |
