24 Hour Hotline
Trained SATC counselors are on duty 24 hours a day/7 days a week to provide confidential support, information, and advocacy on the phone.
How does the Sexual Assault Hotline work?
When a caller dials 808-524-7273 during working hours, the call is answered by our receptionist who then connects the caller to one of the SATC's crisis counselors. When a call comes in after regular business hours, weekends or holidays, the call is answered by Physician's Exchange who then contacts the crisis worker on call. The crisis staff responds directly to the caller.
Are hotline calls completely confidential?
All calls are anonymous and confidential unless the caller chooses to share personally-identifying information. Callers always have the choice of whether or not to share their real name or phone number with counselors. We will know who you are only if you choose to tell us.
However, if a caller discloses a sexual assault and shares personally-identifying information with the counselor, there may be legal mandates to report such abuse (such as sexual assault of a minor by a family member). The SATC is legally required to notify authorities in such situations and confidentiality is therefore waived. The caller can talk further with the counselor about any concerns regarding waivers of confidentiality.
